Trinity’s Ellis signs with Limestone
Trinity Collegiate School last week launched Titans football player Cam Ellis into the world of college sports as he signed a letter of intent to play for Limestone University in Gaffney. Ellis, who lives in Florence, plays safety and outside linebacker. He said he has been playing for Trinity basically the whole time he’s been in high school. He is the son of Joy Bovian and Stephen Ellis. His biggest influences, he said, have been his mom and his brother. “My mom, because she’s a hard-working woman, and my brother, because he’s always there and he always keeps me going.” Ellis said the biggest thing he will take away from his high-school football career is probably just “the hard work and being here every day with my brothers.” He said he received six other college offers, including Presbyterian College in Clinton and Brevard College in North Carolina. He went with Limestone, he said, because “the coaching staff stood out, and the environment – being surrounded by a lot of athletes — there’s no trouble around.” Ellis’ goal? “To be a physical trainer for an NFL team.” And he wouldn’t mind playing for the NFL somewhere along the way. — Bobby Bryant
