CPRMC welcomes Harsh Shah, D.O., Interventional Pain Physician

Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center (CPRMC) is proud to welcome Harsh Shah, DO, to Carolina Pines Medical Group (CPMG) Pain & Spine. Dr. Shah will provide interventional pain management at the group’s downtown Hartsville center, bringing his experience and patient-centered approach to a team dedicated to helping people find relief and regain quality of life close to home.

Dr. Shah is board-certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine. He cares for patients with chronic back and neck pain, joint pain, headaches and other complex pain conditions. His treatment approach begins with understanding how pain affects each person’s life and may include targeted injections, nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablation or chronic pain medication management when appropriate.

“Chronic pain can affect nearly every part of a person’s life,” said Dr. Shah. “I want my patients to feel heard and to understand their options. My goal is to set realistic expectations, treat each person as I would my own family and help them regain as much independence as possible. I’m looking forward to building relationships with patients and becoming part of this community.”

Dr. Shah joins Michael Mills, MD, Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon; Douglas Stofko, DO, Neurosurgeon; and Hallie King, Nurse Practitioner, at CPMG Pain & Spine. Together, the team offers care spanning nonsurgical therapies, interventional pain procedures, minimally invasive treatments and advanced spine surgery. Working in one center allows the providers to collaborate on treatment plans and helps patients navigate their care without traveling far from home.

“For someone living with persistent pain, knowing where to turn can be difficult,” said Dr. Douglas Stofko, Neurosurgeon at CPMG Pain & Spine. “Dr. Shah’s expertise gives our team another option as we evaluate each patient. By working together, we can help patients find a path forward that fits their needs, whether that involves pain management, surgery or a combination of approaches.”

“The Pain & Spine Center was created so people in our community could find specialized care and a team working together on their behalf right here in Hartsville,” said Dr. Brian Sponseller, CEO of CPRMC. “Dr. Shah brings strong clinical training and a genuine commitment to knowing his patients. We’re excited to welcome him and to see the difference his care will make for the people we serve.”

Dr. Shah completed a Chronic Pain Medicine Fellowship at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center and an Anesthesiology Residency at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, family and friends and looks forward to exploring the Carolinas.

Dr. Shah will soon be welcoming new patients at the Carolina Pines Medical Group Pain & Spine Center, located at 206 Swift Creek Road in downtown Hartsville. Appointment scheduling information for visits beginning November 2, 2026, will be announced soon.
