Duke Energy’s H.B. Robinson Plant employees give $20,000 to community
Duke Energy employees at Robinson Nuclear Plant recently selected four local nonprofit organizations to receive a total of $20,000 from the Duke Energy Foundation in celebration of the site’s license renewal commitment to the community.
Nonprofit organizations include:
• Boys and Girls Club of Hartsville
• Child and Family Resource Foundation
• Darlington County Humane Society
• Trent Hill Center for Children and Families
By the numbers: South Carolina’s Duke Energy Foundation granted each nonprofit organization $5,000, totaling $20,000 spread across four organizations.
Why it matters: Organizations were selected by Duke Energy employees at Robinson Nuclear Plant in celebration of the site’s subsequent license renewal approval, which allows Robinson Nuclear Plant the opportunity to operate through 2050.
The impact: The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) renewed the operating license for Robinson Nuclear Plant for an additional 20 years, extending the plant’s ability to deliver reliable energy until 2050. Robinson provides enough energy to power 570,000 homes and plays an important role in protecting reliability and affordability for customers as regional electricity demand continues to grow.
