The Virgil Wells Trophy remains in Darlington
The Darlington High School Falcons keep the coveted Virgil Wells Trophy at home in Darlington for another year after a win over Wilson High School on Friday night at Memorial Stadium.
The trophy is named for the famed football coach who won 253 games during his 34 years of coaching at both Mayo High School and Wilson High School. Wells will be posthumously inducted into the South Carolina Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame later this fall.
