Silver Foxes take three of four in busy baseball week

By Drake Horton, Contributing Writer

It was a pretty busy week for the Lamar Silver Foxes baseball team and in most ways it was a very successful week as well.

Having to play four games in five days, the Silver Foxes went 3-1, defeating Crestwood, East Clarendon and Chesterfield while losing to McBee.

“We couldn’t throw strikes Friday at McBee, but overall it was a good week,” Lamar head coach Adam Windham said.

Offensively, the Silver Foxes were as explosive as ever scoring at least seven runs in each of the four games, outscoring their opponents by a total of 35-10.
“We are starting to hit it pretty well,” Windham said. “We will be tough if we can keep it up.”

Despite struggling to throw strikes against McBee, Lamar’s pitching staff was just as good, throwing two shutouts against Crestwood and East Clarendon, while giving up just one run against Chesterfield.

Lamar defeated Crestwood 10-0 on Monday, March 6, East Clarendon 11-0 on Tuesday, March 7 and Chesterfield 7-1 on Wednesday. The Silver Foxes lost 9-7 to McBee on Friday.
Lamar’s overall record is currently 6-2, 0-1 in region.
