Local players compete in S.C. All-State game

Three Darlington County players were set to play in South Carolina All state game on June 15th. Alyssa Poston of Hartsville High School, Naya Jones and Madie Andrews of Darlington High School were announced to the All-state team back in May. After the conclusion of Darlington’s State Championship run All state players will meet up at USC Aiken to play double header games. When asked how she felt about being named an All-state player, Pitcher Madie Andrews said, “It’s an honor to represent my team and school. I know not many people get this opportunity, so the fact that I was chosen means a lot”. As apart of the South team coached by South Florence’s Head Coach Bobby Jones and Gilbert’s Sarah Minchew, Madie Andrews was also asked about her thoughts going into the game and playing with players she once played against she said, “ I know that there are a lot of girls from our region on my team, so I am excited for all of us to get to play together. I am also excited to play for Darlington one more time”. Both Naya Jones and Madie Andrews have graduated this year so this will be their final selection Alyssa Poston will be a Junior with the possibility of returning next year.
