Lamar rolls over McBee 32-3

The Lamar Silver Foxes outfoxed the McBee Panthers 32-3 at home Friday. The game remained scoreless until 1:48 remaining in the first half when the Silver Foxes’ Tyler McManus threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Derrick Higgins. The 2-point conversion run attempt failed. With 10:58 remaining in the third quarter, once again the duo of Higgins and McManus hooked up again for a 33-yard touchdown pass. The 2-point conversion run attempt failed. Omar Gallardo kicked a 35-yard field goal to place the McBee Panthers on the scoreboard with 4:48 remaining in the third quarter for the only points of the night for the Panthers. Higgins and McManus teamed up again for a 65-yard pass reception touchdown with 2:24 remaining in the third quarter of play. The 2-point conversion attempt failed. The final score of the game came with 11:57 remaining on another pass from McManus to Higgins. This time the pass covered 14 yards. The 2-point pass attempt failed. The Silver Foxes’ Tyler McManus connected on 7 of 14 pass attempts for 195 yards while the Panthers’ Trevor Trull completed 4 of 11 pass attempts for 27 yards and an interception. Lamar’s Higgins caught 4 passes for 142 yards, and Travis Dolford was on the receiving end of 2 passes. McBee’s Dawson Wellmon caught 3 passes for 25 yards. Lamar’s Rashad Johnson rushed for 75 yards on 2 carries while Pat Anderson had 64 yards on 3 carries. Dolford rushed for 13 yards on 1 carry. Braddy Boyle rushed from 103 yards on 24 carries for McBee while Payton Horton carried the pigskin 18 times for 55 yards. Evan Sullivan rushed for 21 yards on 18 carries. Lamar is 2-0 for the season and 2-0 in Region 2-A while McBee is 0-1 in Region 2-A. Lamar will be on the road Friday, Oct. 9, to face St. James at 7:30 p.m. while McBee will be at home to face C.A. Johnson at 7:30 p.m.
