Lamar and Hartsville keep playoff runs alive

Lamar and Hartsville’s run in the both the 1A and 3A state football playoffs will continue as each was victorious this past Friday with the Silver Foxes winning 34-6 and the Red Foxes winning 35-10.
Lamar 34, Hunter-Kinard-Tyler 6
Lamar – The Lamar Silver Foxes continued its quest to win the 1A, division II state title with its 34-6 win over Hunter-Kinard-Tyler.
After a scoreless first quarter, Lamar struck twice with Tyson Peoples scoring first on a one-yard run and that was followed by Decobie Durant’s three-yard touchdown run.
Hunter-Kinard-Tyler scored its only touchdown in the third quarter, but Lamar answered that lone score by outscoring Trojans 20-0 in the final quarter and half.
Lamar outgained the Trojans 483 to 159 in total yards of offense. Tre Caesar, as he has been for the majority of the season, was the centerpiece of the Silver Foxes offense, leading all rushers in yards with 218 and more importantly in touchdowns with three.
The Silver Foxes now get ready to take on Ridge Spring-Monetta in Lamar this coming Friday for the upper-state championship.
Hartsville 35, Airport 10
Hartsville – The Hartsville Red Foxes stayed undefeated and in control of its destiny with a dominating win over the Airport Eagles this past Friday in Kelleytown.
Hartsville now goes on the road to take on Myrtle Beach in the third round of the 3A state playoffs.
