The Lady Silver Foxes of Lamar High School hosted region powerhouse, the Lady Wild Gators of Lake View High School, Friday night, April 2. The Lamar ladies fielded a roster of nine players and there was no room for injury. The Lady Gators have for more years than I can remember made the playoffs and this was indeed a challenge for the Silver Foxes with only nine players. The Silver Foxes fell behind 6-0 after three innings but fought back trailing 5-7 after six innings of play. An in-the-park grand slam home run in the top of the seventh by Lake View’s Zandasia McNeil put the game away for the gators at 11-5. The Lady Silver Foxes played one of the top teams in the state the full seven innings and had the Wild Gator fans nervous until late in the seventh inning. Few teams have made it the full seven innings against the Wild Gators let alone threatened them in the late innings of the game. The outcome may have been different had the Silver Foxes had a few reserves. On the mound for Lake View, Raven Locklear posted eight strikeouts, two runners to base on walks, five runners to base on errors allowed five hits and five runs scored for the win. On the mound for the Silver Foxes, Heidi Anderson posted seven strikeouts, five runners to base on errors allowed seven hits with eleven runs scored in the loss. At bat for the Wild Gators, Zandasia McNeil was 3 for 4 with a triple and an inside-the-park home run with four RBI, Hollie Scott was 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBI and Emma King was 2 for 2 with a triple and two RBI. At bat for the Silver Foxes, Emmy Copeland, Tatum Weaver, MaddieDoriety, Heidi Anderson and Gracie Blackwell had a base hit each.
