A cherished community event on March 14 at Fox Creek Golf Course

The Karl E. Alexander Foundation will host its 5th Annual Golf tournament and Auction on Saturday, March 14 at Fox Creek Golf Course. The foundation was created in 2010 following the untimely death of its namesake, Karl Alexander. Karl was a Wofford student, avid golfer, lacrosse player, and friend to everybody he touched in life. Karl’s goal in life was to become a physician so he could provide care for others; tragically, he passed away due to heart failure at the age of 19. The Karl E. Alexander Endowed Scholarship was created to give the gift of opportunity to others, so they might follow Karl’s footsteps and achieve his dreams; each year an incoming Wofford freshman receives this scholarship. All proceeds from the golf tournament and auction go toward this fund. Over the last four years, $75,000 has been donated to the scholarship fund from the foundation.

Tee time is at 9:00am for this four-man captain’s choice tournament. The event will also feature a silent auction and lunch in the clubhouse, so those that do not golf can participate in the fellowship and fun. The tournament will have several special holes and competitions in addition to the main contest, including a putt for cash $10,000 contest, hole-in-one for a new car contest, and prizes for closest to the pin and longest drive as well as special door prizes.

The tournament is a great opportunity to spend a day enjoying all that Fox Creek Golf Course has to offer, while supporting a worthy cause. Sponsorship opportunities are still available, as are team registration slots. If you wish to register a team or sponsor the event, please visit the foundation’s website: www.karlalexanderfoundation.org or call 803-397-2704. The entry fee for golfers is $75 per person. Mulligans and ‘red tee’ tee-offs are available for $5 each as well.
