The Hartsville Red Foxes defeated the visiting Beaufort Eagles 80 to 54 Monday, February 22, in 4A varsity basketball action played in Hartsville for the lower state play-offs. Beaufort controlled the tipoff but quickly lost control of the ball to Hartsville. After several consecutive scores from Hartsville, Beaufort regained control of the ball and quickly added to the scoreboard. By the end of the first quarter, the Silver Foxes let 17 to 10. At the start of the second quarter, the Beaufort Eagles pushed hard offensively tying the score. However, under the leadership of Coach Brad, the Red Foxes were able to finish the second quarter with a 33 to 26 lead over Beaufort. During the second quarter, the Red Foxes continued to expand their lead over the visiting Eagles. At the end of the third quarter Hartsville held their lead at 53 to 33. The fourth quarter began with a final push from the Beaufort Eagles who were still unable to catch up to the commanding lead made by the Red Foxes. Hartsville Player Cesare Edwards had a game high with 20 points, Kameron Foman added 14, Jamari Briggs and Xzavier Thaggard each connected for 13 points, Tristan Lexander scored 5, DeAndre Huggins connected 4 points, Xavion Robinson and Shaquan each scored 3, Zykee Knox and Jordan Blue each added 2, and Jamal Brown generated 1 point.
