The News & Press hosted our first ever candidate forum on Thursday October 22nd, and approximately 285 Darlington residents filled the seats and bleachers at the Darlington Area Recreation Department Harmon Baldwin gymnasium to hear all 16 residents vying for city municipal offices.
The moderator of the event, Bill Rogers, Executive Director of the SC Press Association, kept the event moving along at a brisk pace, with the event running until nearly 9:00 p.m. Eleven of the 12 candidates for the three at-large Darlington city council seats and the four candidates for Mayor of Darlington shared their platform and answered questions submitted by readers.
In the first in series of videos from the event, see the little creature that created the biggest surprise of the evening …we won’t reveal the details to spoil the moment, but look for it to make an entrance around the 5 minute mark.
