Darlington County voters hit the polls for the June 14 Democratic and Republican Primaries, and the results will unseat several incumbent candidates.

Of those totals, Byrd received 879 absentee votes and Chavis received 788.

Darlington County Council vice chair Robbin Brock (District 7) lost to challenger Lewis Brown by a count of 587 to 225 in the county’s lone Republican race.
Neither Brock nor Brown received any absentee votes.

Longtime Darlington County Council member Wilhelmina P. Johnson lost her District 3 seat to Democratic challenger Joyce Wingate Thomas by a count of 614 to 567.
Johnson received 180 absentee votes, and Wingate Thomas received 161.

In other races, Democratic candidate for auditor Margaret Ross Rogers beat fellow candidate Brenton Dana 4,784 to 4,505, with Ross Rogers receiving 1,005 absentee votes and Dana receiving 629.
