DHS Falcons finalize changes to varsity football schedule

Darlington High School announced Thursday its varsity football team will play four games in 12 calendar days to make up for games canceled due to historic rainfall across the state over the weekend.

Darlington administrators put the new schedule together following a meeting in Hartsville of all Region 6-3A head coaches, athletic directors and principals. The teams pitched ideas on schedule changes and voted during the meeting.

Crestwood was forced to postpone a game in Darlington Oct. 2 due to travel concerns. A make-up game originally scheduled for Tuesday was cancelled due to weather concerns. Darlington and Manning were scheduled to play Friday in Darlington, but that game is also cancelled due to travel concerns. All Friday Homecoming activities are cancelled.

Darlington will host Crestwood on Monday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m.

Darlington will travel to Lakewood on Friday, Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m.

Darlington will host Manning on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 7:30 p.m. The game will also be Darlington’s Senior Night.

Darlington will host Marlboro County on Friday, Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. The game will be Darlington’s Homecoming Night. A school pep rally, parade and tailgate will be held that day. The school will also crown its Homecoming Queen and King.

Darlington will conclude its regular season and region play with a game at Hartsville on Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m.

There are no changes to Hartsville’s remaining schedule. Hartsville will travel to Crestwood on Friday. A kick-off time has not been set.

*NOTE – For clarity, there are no changes to Lamar High School’s remaining schedule.
