Darlington Post Office employees recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Darlington Post Office employees traded their usual blue uniform tops for bright pink T-shirts in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In recent weeks, postal workers sold dozens of these shirts to colleagues, friends, family members and breast cancer survivors to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Mail carrier Alice McMillan says the T-shirt drive raised about $300, and local postal workers plan to sport their pink tops all through October. Bishopville Post Office employees also participated in this fundraising program. Last Wednesday, Oct. 10, law enforcement officers from the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office and the Darlington Police Department joined postal workers in paying tribute to fallen Florence police officer and Darlington resident Terrence Carraway, killed in an Oct. 3 shooting that also wounded six fellow officers.
