Darlington Police Officer of the Year

DPD Officer of Year B Hale

The Darlington Police Department honored officers who achieved exceptional levels of service, furthered their education and training, and excelled in various aspects of the job during 2015 at their annual awards ceremony, held Friday, December 18, in the new municipal courtroom.

DPD Chief Danny Watson distributed awards acknowledging officers for everything from SWAT training to perfect attendance, and thanked his team for their commitment to continually improve their skills and better serve their community.

The ceremony concluded on a high note, with DPD Officer Brandon Hale (left) named “Officer of the Year” and receiving congratulations from the 2014 “Officer of the Year,” School Resource Officer Paul Bryant (right).

After a fair amount of ribbing over Hale’s country boy demeanor, Chief Watson described him as even-tempered, professional, and
reliable.

“He’s calm and easy to get along with, and I think we’ve all come to rely on him… we can look to (Hale) to be right there with us if we need anything,” said Chief Watson.
