Darlington High School (DHS) boys’ basketball head coach Anthony Heilbronn has announced his resignation. Heilbronn is pursuing a position in athletics administration at North Myrtle Beach High School. Having spent the past decade coaching and teaching in the Social Studies department at DHS, he also served as the school’s assistant athletic director for the past year. “Coach Heilbronn is a person with a good heart, a great attitude, and a strong desire to see our youth succeed in academics, athletics and in life,” said Cortney Gehrke, DHS principal. “We are grateful for his years at DHS, and we wish him the best as he continues his journey at North Myrtle Beach.” Heilbronn took over the boys’ basketball squad three years ago, and the team posted a 48-18 record in that window. The team clinched a Region 6-4A title and reached a lower state final. The school will begin the search process for a new boys’ basketball coach soon.
