The chilly temperature did not dampen the warmth of the spirit of love for the Darlington County Habitat for Humanity Home Dedication on Sunday, February 7, 2016 for Mrs. Elouise Green and her two grandsons, Michael and Tracy Green at their new home in Darlington.

Assisting in the blessing of the home was Board of Directors Chair John “Jay” Davis. Invocation was provided by Dr. Reverend Crystal Sears. Litany of Blessing of the Tithe-Built House was given by board member Deidre Odom. A percentage of local funds are donated to build a home in a developing nation. Jack Wilson, ReStore manager, introduced the family. I.A. and Rev. Effie Greene presented a large family Bible donated by the Comfort Ministries; Inc. Board member Bene Brockman presented the key. Executive director of the Darlington County Habitat, Mark Haenchen, provided thanks to the many corporations and businesses that help support the Habitat builds in this county, including Whirlpool, electrical services by Snyder Electrical; house wrap and shingles donated; discounts from Lowes; and many more.

In addition to local volunteers, college students affiliated with Jewish volunteer group Bnei Akiva helped frame the home, and stayed at Beth Israel Temple in Florence. The group will return to build another home soon.
