Coach, mentor, advisor are just a few words to describe Mr. Silvaris “Andre’” Hooks. On May 17, 2016, Coach Hooks was awarded “Coach of the Year” for the Pee Dee Conference Region.

Coach Hooks is a native of Darlington County and a 1993 graduate of St. John’s High School. During that time he was an all around player participating in three sports. After high school, he continued his education at Limestone College and Florence Darlington Technical College. Ten years ago, Mr. Hooks joined the Darlington Middle School faculty and staff. After two years, Coach Hooks started coaching football, basketball, and baseball on the middle school level. As a coach at Darlington Middle School he has brought three basketball championships in five years;

• 2012 with an overall 21-4
• 2015 overall record of 24-2
• 2016 with an overall record of 16-4

As a coach, he encourages his students to play at the varsity level and 95% of his players fulfill his expectations. When asked if he could provide words of encouragement to the youth, he said, “Hard work pays off”.

Coach Hooks and his wife, Jennifer Dixon-Hooks, are the parents of three children Shanekqa Lashae Dixon, Andre Hooks Jr, and Christopher Hooks.

In addition to the coaching field at the Darlington Middle School, Hooks enjoys giving back to his community as a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, and spends numerous hours on the baseball diamond helping the Darlington Little League, where his wife is the President.
