2019 National Day of Prayer

The 2019 National Day of Prayer was marked with messages of hope at a May 2 gathering on Darlington’s Public Square. Organizer Dr. Brian Sherwood, pastor of First Baptist Church, introduced speakers from area churches. Among them, Rev. Zach Dillard of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church prayed for President Trump, national leaders and all servicemen and –women; Rev. Sam Fulmore of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church prayed for state leaders; Rev. Dr. Laura Canine of Trinity United Methodist Church prayed for city and county leaders; Juan Gonzalez of Mechanicsville Baptist Church prayed (in Spanish) for the educational system; Rev. LaTonya Dash of St. James United Methodist Church prayed for all churches.
