Williamson Park bridge completed

There is a new bridge on the nature trail in Williamson Park! Drs. Andy and Peggy Cohen, William Hudson, and Al Britt show off the recently completed 325-foot long bridge over the wild nature trail. The park comprises 64 acres and contains approximately 2 miles of walkable trails. The new bridge replaces the old one which was destroyed during Hurricane Hugo. Debris cleanup took over 3 years and the Cohens have funded the project through their ongoing commitment. William Hudson has worked with the City for over 15 years and will be retiring in about 2 weeks. The park is a unique spot, one of the largest wild natural areas within a city’s limits. Henley’s Construction from Cheraw was in charge of the construction and did a fantastic job! Williamson Park would like to especially thank Bill Ervin and Ervin Engineering for their commitment with the engineering design and planning of all the boardwalks and bridges in the park. Even on hot days, there is usually a cool breeze blowing through this area. Come on out and enjoy a nice walk through nature!
