Where is this in Darlington County
The photo from the May 25th issue was of the roofline as looking up at the Julius A Dargan House on Pearl Street, the site of the City of Darlington Administration Offices. Unfortunately, after the historic rains in October of last year, the lovely historic building suffered significant damages and the employees of the City now occupy offices at City Hall.
According to Howard Garland, City Manager: “The building has had emergency repairs done and mold remediation at a cost of approximately $33,000. The City of Darlington has applied for a SC Department of Archives and History Preservation grant to help restore the structure. The grant has not been awarded yet. Until we find out about the grant award we are in limbo. We are also waiting for FEMA money to come back to help defray costs.”
