Carolyn White

Carolyn Matthews White, age 86, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017 in Morrell Nursing Center in Hartsville. The family received friends from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, October 12th at Belk Funeral Home.

Born September 20, 1931 in Palatka, Florida, Carolyn is the daughter of the late Alton Matthews and the late Annie Laurie Pierce. She worked for Nytronics for several years. Surviving are her son, Alton (Emma) Thompson of Darlington; her grandchildren, Woody Barber, Dean Barber, Susan (Steven) Hackett, Lisa Weatherford; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings, Rebecca Hunter, Johnny Campbell, and Doris Ann Campbell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Thompson, Sr, and her daughter, Phyllis Rostron.

Margaret Atkinson Wester

Margaret Atkinson Wester, age 70, died Monday, October 9, 2017 at her home. A memorial service was held on Saturday, October 14 at 10 a.m. at Belk Funeral Home in Darlington. The family received friends following the service, and will hold a private burial at Grove Hill Cemetery on a later date.

Born July 17, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Arthur E. Atkinson and Maude Stokes Atkinson Harrison. Surviving are her daughters, Mary Margaret “Mart” (Mark) Gardner of Florence and Kimberly Rose (Mark) Shaw of Marion, grandsons Collin Gardner and Cam Gardner. Also surviving are her brother Mack (Clara) Atkinson of Hartsville, a sister Beth A (Jimmy) Carroll of Spartanburg, SC and a special niece Linda N. (Greg) Boucher of Athens, GA.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Cleo Atkinson Dowdy and two brothers, Ed Atkinson and Billy Atkinson. Maggie loved her job as an administrative assistant to Kenneth Rowland of KM Rowland, LLC in Florence, SC.

Anna Parker

Anna Parker, 89, of Darlington died on Sunday, October 15, 2017.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 18, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Kistler Hardee Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Darlington Memory Gardens. The family received friends from 6 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Kistler Hardee Funeral Home.

Anna was born in Darlington, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Alexander and Marie Bailey Parker. Anna retired from Granby Mills in Columbia. She lived most of her life in Columbia, South Carolina, where she attended Elmwood Church of God and enjoyed reading and gardening.

Surviving are her sisters, Alberta Berry and husband, Eugene of Darlington; her sister-in-law, Louise Parker of Quinby; her nieces, Dale (Johnny) Campbell of Darlington, and Gail Berry of Charlotte, NC; her nephew, Mike Berry of Columbia, SC; and her great nephews, Parker and Patrick Campbell; and several loving cousins.

Anna was preceded in death by her brother, Clyde Parker.
