Richard Earl James

Richard Earl James, 83, of Darlington died on Monday, June 1, 2015 at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. in Grove Hill Cemetery, directed by Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home and other times at the home, 1612 Rogers Road, Darlington.

Richard was born in Horry County. He was the son of the late Dick and Jewel Hucks James. Richard enjoyed gardening. He loved spending time with his family, and will be missed dearly.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Todd James of Darlington; children: Codi Hopkins, Kasey Anderson and husband, John, Judy Warr and husband, Danny, of all of Darlington; and Donna Mims and husband, Mitch, of Pawleys Island; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; sisters, Lavina Page and husband, Sonny of Darlington, Loretta Leonard and husband, Ted of VA, Dottie Rogers and husband, Buddy of Darlington, and Patricia Jones of TX; and brothers, Bobby James of Darlington, and Norton James and wife, Annie Lou, of Darlington.

Blane C. Jernigan

Blane C. Jernigan, age 43, passed away Monday, May 25, 2015. A memorial service was held 5:00 p.m. Friday, May 29 in the chapel at Belk Funeral Home, with a visitation held one hour prior, officiated by Pastor Tim Coker.

Born in Darlington, Blane is the son of the late Harmon L. Jernigan and Carol Evans Jernigan of Santee. Blane was a big sports fan, and a fan of the Clemson Tigers. He loved being a father to his children.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife Jamie Faye Reynolds; his children Taylor Jernigan and Chase Jernigan, all of Darlington; his brothers, Kyle Jernigan of Santee, and Brent (Deborah) Jernigan of Maulden; and several nieces and nephews.

Howard Sweet

Funeral services for Mr. Howard Sweet, Sr. of Darlington were conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Round O’ Missionary Baptist Church in Darlington. Interment followed in the church cemetery directed by Jordan Funeral Home, Inc.

Howard Sweet Sr. born Oct. 15th 1951 in Darlington to the late Jesse & Lucy Sweet, departed this life peacefully on May 24th, 2015. A graduate of Rosenwald High School Class of 1969, he worked for Darlington Shredding Co., and was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church. He leaves to mourn: his sons, Howard Jr., Timothy & Michael Sweet; companion, Georgia Goodson; a brother Lavern Green; eight grandchildren; and a host of relatives.

The family is receiving friends at the residence, 1613 Lide Springs Road, Darlington.

Sarah Reynolds

Sarah Grady Reynolds, 84, died Friday, May 29, 2015. A graveside service was held in Newman Swamp Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 31, directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Born July 26, 1930 in Lamar, she was the daughter of the late Charles F. and Alma Watford Grady. Sarah worked as a nurse for Dr. Sidney Griffin in Lamar for thirty years, also being a devoted housewife and mother during her employment. Mrs. Reynolds enjoyed selling AVON products for forty-eight years. She was a faithful member of Newman Swamp Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children: Dathon (Carol) Reynolds of Lamar, Daphene (Steve) Howell of Timmonsville, Lois (Barry) Oliver of Timmonsville, and David (Kay) Reynolds of Darlington; her step-son, Joe Reynolds of Cheraw; twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ellen (Eldridge) Watkins of Lamar, and Joyce Ward of Spartanburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William ‘Joe’ Reynolds, Sr.; a grandson,Rod Reynolds; a step-daughter, Mary Lloyd; her brother, Henry Grady; and her sister, Virginia Weatherford Dority.

Memorials may be made to the Newman Swamp Cemetery Fund, c/o Dathon Reynolds, 100 West Jackson St., Lamar, S.C. 29069 or a charity of one’s choice.

The family will be at the home of Dathon and Carol Reynolds, 100 West Jackson Street, Lamar.

Patricia Diane Smith Cauley (Patsy)

Patricia Diane Smith Cauley (Patsy), age 72, of Tallahassee, FL passed away Monday, May 18, 2015 at the McLeod Hospice in Florence, S.C. Mother of Joseph Daniel Cauley and wife Nancy of MD; Kevin Terrence Cauley and wife Penny of S.C.; and Christopher Patrick Cauley and wife Kathy of FL; Grandmother of Erin, Ryan, Brendan, Conor, Sean, Grace, Angela and Katie; and sister of Joseph D. Smith Jr. of N.Y.

She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph D. Smith and Marjorie B. Smith of Tallahassee.

Patsy was a rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service until her retirement in 1996.

The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. on June 5, at the Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, FL 32312.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of the Darlington Presbyterian Church or the Susan Johnson Memorial Scholarship. Both memorials may be mailed to 311 Pearl St. Darlington, SC 29532.
