Barbara Locklair Spradlin

Barbara Locklair Spradlin 51 of Darlington, passed away June 18th 2016 in Augusta, Ga. She is predeceased by her son Barry Lavern Spradlin, father Keith Lavern Locklair mother Willia Mae Locklair Hutchinson. She is survived by two sons Benny Spradlin of Darlington and Bradley Spradlin of Washington State. Also survived by her beloved Grandchildren Logan Rollins, Alexzia Spradlin and Kailishia Spradlin. Siblings Tammy Sarvis Collins of Darlington, Gennie Locklair Aloise (Frank) of Washington State, Billy Locklair (Tiffany) of Latta S.C. Ricky Locklair, Susan Locklair Aaron(David) and Bonnie Locklair Guthrie.

Barbara worked as a server at Shoneys and IHOP for many years. Barbara was a beautiful soul and was loved by all who knew her. She could always bring a smile to your face. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. Her favorite thing to do in life was southern cooking. Her beautiful smile will be missed by us all. A memorial service will be held at Saint Anthony Church on Hoffmeyer Rd. Florence, S.C. on July 28th 2016 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Marion R. “Rick” Carrigan, age 59 passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016. A memorial service was held 11:00am Saturday, July 30th in the chapel at Belk Funeral Home. The family received friends from 10-11am Saturday at the funeral home.

Born July 24, 1957 in Killeen, Texas; Rick is the son of Irene Garner Carrigan and the late Col. Marion R. Carrigan, Jr. Rick graduated from Seoul High School in S. Korea, and then served in the U.S. Army. After serving his country, Rick worked at the Radio Shack in downtown Darlington. He was owner and operator of M&R Marketing, LLC selling fishing gear on eBay. His sales put him in contact with people across the country in which he was always accommodating.

He was survived by his mother, Irene Garner Carrigan of Darlington; his son, Richard “Rick” Carrigan of Atlanta, GA; his sister-in-law, Patty M. Carrigan of Columbia; a niece, Kimberly Carrigan and a nephew, Michael G. Carrigan. He is also survived by his companion and business partner, Lupe Trunck and her children; Sheila Jones, Armando Garcia and his son, Andrew Garcia.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Rogers Carrigan and his brother, Michael G. Carrigan, Sr.

Rembert Chaplin “R.C.” Kempson, 89 passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016. A funeral service was held 4:00 pm Sunday, July 31st in the Lamar chapel of Belk Funeral Home with burial to follow at Lamar Cemetery. The family received friends from 3:00-4 pm at the funeral home in Lamar.

Born January 13, 1927 in Lamar, Mr. Kempson was the son of the late Gerald Edgar Kempson and Grace Chaplin Kempson. He served in the U.S. Army and worked for DuPont for 34 years. He attended Lamar Freewill Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Jennie Windham Kempson; his sons, Chip (Jeannie) Kempson and Jeff Kempson; his daughter, Timmie (Jimmy) Bell, all of Lamar; his grandchildren, Brad (Misty) Kempson, Carmen (Trey) Watson, April (Rod) Watford, Jason Bell, Brittany Kempson, Jason Richardson, twelve great-grandchildren; and his sister, Margaret League of Spartanburg.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Geraldine Randall, Buck Kempson, and Ferrell Kempson.

Ådrienne Michele Ray

Graveside services for Miss Adrienne Michele Ray of Great Neck, New York were held at 12:00 o’clock noon Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at New Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery in Darlington, directed by Jordan Funeral Home, Inc. of Darlington.

Miss Ray died Friday July 22, 2016 in New York.

She was the daughter of the late Dorothy H. Dubose of Great Neck, New York.

Viewing for Miss Ray was held 6:00-7:00 p.m. Monday evening in the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home.
