Lester Goodson, Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Lester Goodson, Jr. of Sanford, N.C. formerly of Darlington were conducted 12:00 o’clock noon Friday, July 31, 2015 at Mount Ephraim Ambassador Outreach Church on Walnut Street in Florence.

Interment followed in Florence National Cemetery directed by Jordan Funeral Home, Inc. of Darlington.

Mr. Goodson, a son of the late Lester and Corine Wright-Goodson, Sr., was born September 16, 1945 in New Hanover County, Wilmington, NC. He entered into his final resting place on Thursday, July 23, 2015.

Lester began his education at the Marion County Training School in Marion, SC and completed at Mayo High School, Class of 1963. After graduation, he served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1963- 1971.

He was united in marriage to the late Annie B. Wilson on November 4, 1971.

He worked for Wellman Industries and Nan Ya Plastics for many years, and retired as a maintenance mechanic in 2009.

Survivors include: his two daughters, Lezlee (Ronnie) Dubose and Hope Goodson; one very loving sister, Ernestine Goodson-Hayes; a very special uncle, Franklin Goodson; ten children whom he reared, Ruby Brockman, Joyce (Moses) Fludd, Gregory Ross, George (Terriseda) Ross, Anthony (Wanda) Ross, McKinley Ross, Robert Ross, Regina Kirven, Victor Ross, and Vance Ross; seven sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; one granddaughter whom he reared, Crystal Jane Ross; 34 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family is receiving friends at the residence of a daughter, Hope Goodson, Bridgewood Condominiums, 1419 Golf Terrace Blvd., Unit #2, Florence.

Olin F. “Billy” Cook, Sr., 76, of Darlington died on Friday, July 24, 2015.

Graveside services were held on Monday, July 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Grove Hill Cemetery directed by Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home. The family received friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at the funeral home and other times at the home of his son, Bill Cook, 413 Racetrack Road, Darlington.

Billy was born in Darlington, S.C. He was the son of the late Robert H. Cook and Edith F. Gainey. Billy lived in Darlington his entire life and attended Love Life Ministries Church in Darlington. He loved spending time with his family and will be missed dearly.

Surviving are his children, Olin F. “Bill” Cook, Jr. and wife, Teresa, and Edith Renea Britt and husband, Frank all of Darlington; his brother, Clyde Cook and wife, Dianne of Darlington; his sister, Tobie Ann Reynolds of Darlington; his sister-in-law, Marlean Cook of Darlington; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lee Cook; his brother, Robert H. Cook, Jr.; and by his brother-in-law, Buck Reynolds.

Robert C. Atkinson
Robert C. Atkinson, age 72, passed away in his home Saturday, July 25, 2015. Funeral services were held 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 29th at Flat Creek Pentecostal Church, followed by burial at Atkinson Family Cemetery.

Born in Darlington County, Robert is the son of the late Charlie Atkinson and Ella “Sister” Griggs Weatherford. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Darlington County Road and Bridges. Robert enjoyed logging, and helping people. He attended Flat Creek Pentecostal Church.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley W. Atkinson of Darlington; his children, Teresa (Buck) Sanders of Timmonsville, Melissa Ann Baird, Robbie (Linda) Atkinson, Tonya (Gene) Ham, Shane M. (Tonya) Atkinson, all of Darlington, and Shasta (Lee) Grant of Hartsville; nine grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren, his brother, Buster (Cindy) Weatherford; and his sisters, Ann Weatherford, Bobbie Howle, Jennie Weatherford, and Penny Doriety.
Preceded in death are his brothers, Ernest, Brooks, and Sandy Atkinson.

The family would like to give a special thanks to his grandchildren, Jacob, Cori, Zach, Kasey, Keri, Meagan, and Chastity.

The family received friends one hour prior to the service Wednesday, July 29th at Flat Creek Pentecostal Church.
