Valerie Blackwell Middleton

Valerie Strickland Blackwell Middleton went home to be with God on Wednesday, May 13, 2020. A graveside service was held Friday, May 15, at Grove Hill Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Born Sept. 25, 1944, in Darlington County, she was the daughter of the late Hilton and Geneva Dixon Strickland. She was a member of Temple Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Middleton’s favorite pastime was watching TV or being on her tablet, while sipping on a Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi.
She is survived by her husband, Melton “Mel” E. Middleton, a son, Carroll Eugene “Man” (Donna) Floyd, daughters, Teresa Dickerson, Tina (Timmy) Gainey, grandchildren: Mandy (Todd) F. Bulwinkle, C.J. Floyd II, Jennifer F. (David) Robinson, Valerie Ashley Gainey (Hunter) Parker, Blan (Allison) Dickerson, Travis Blackwell, Hunter Gainey, Dylan Dickerson, Haylie Blackwell, great-grandchildren; Caroline Floyd, Zachary Floyd, Trinity Robinson, Gabriel Robinson, Carson Bulwinkle, Cate Bulwinkle, Max Parker, Genesis Robinson, Stone Bulwinkle.
Also surviving are her sister, Virginia S. Truett; the father of Blan and Dylan, Bob Dickerson; and the mother of Travis and Haylie, Stacey G. Blackwell; and her fur baby, Molly.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Purvis Blackwell, her son, David Blackwell, her brother Hilton “Jerome or Buck” Strickland Jr. and her sister, Betty Waters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Temple Free Will Baptist Church Debt Retirement Fund, PO Box 287, Darlington, SC 29540.
