Trinity-Byrnes appoints Byrd as Associate Head of School

Kelley Blackmon Byrd has been appointed as the Associate Head of School at Trinity-Byrnes Collegiate School. Byrd has 29 years of experience in the education field. She graduated from Francis Marion University in 1986 and taught early childhood education for seven years in public school education. She worked at James F. Byrnes for multiple years as well as in the Darlington County public school district as a middle school English teacher. Byrd was a teacher and the Dean of Students at The Byrnes School and was part of the integration of Trinity Collegiate School and The Byrnes School in 2012. She became the Dean of Students at Trinity-Byrnes, as well as a middle school English teacher. Byrd has now been appointed as the Associate Head of School at Trinity-Byrnes Collegiate School. With a passion for working with students, Byrd enjoys spending time with students inside and outside of the classroom. In addition to her new role, she also serves as the cheerleading coach. The students often refer to her as “Momma Byrd.” Byrd says teaching is not just her profession, it is her calling.

Trinity-Byrnes Collegiate School is a coeducational, non-discriminatory, college-preparatory day school serving students in grades seven through twelve located in Darlington.
