The Men’s Dance Club of Darlington held its 65th Annual Winter Debutante Ball on Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Darlington Country Club. Five young ladies were presented, and 12 young men were introduced. Members and guests were greeted by club president, Mr. James McIntosh Dargan and Mrs. Dargan. Debutantes, introduced in the receiving line by their fathers, were Miss Carrie Price Flowers, Miss Natalie Grace Hinson, Miss Savannah Kathryn Odom, Miss Anna McKenzee Perry, and Miss Sarah Page Stokes.

Miss Carrie Price Flowers is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Brian Flowers of Darlington. She was presented by her father and escorted by Mr. James Edward Dennis of Darlington. Miss Flowers is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry David Taylor, the late Mr. Rivers Furman Flowers, and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Digby Bryant, all of Darlington.

Miss Natalie Grace Hinson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Arthur Hinson of Darlington, is a sophomore at Clemson University. She was presented by her father and escorted by Mr. Shane Martin Amerson of Lamar. Miss Hinson is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James MacArthur Hinson of Darlington, and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Stout McCall, Jr. of Society Hill.

Miss Savannah Kathryn Odom, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Parrish Nathaniel Lambert of Darlington, and is a junior at The University of South Carolina. She was presented by her stepfather, Mr. Parrish Nathaniel Lambert, and escorted by Mr. Carlton Chase Weatherford of Darlington. Miss Odom is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilburn Green Manuel, Jr., and the late Marie Young Manuel of Salisbury, North Carolina, and Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Weldon Crosby, Jr. of Darlington.

Miss Anna McKenzee Perry is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Andrew Perry of Darlington. She is a sophomore at The College of Charleston. Miss Perry was presented by her father and escorted by Mr. Keith Thomas Langley, Jr. of Ravenel. Miss Perry is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hal Avery Perry of Charleston and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Pollock McKelvey of Darlington.

Miss Sarah Page Stokes is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Howell Stokes, Jr. of Darlington. She is a sophomore at Clemson University. Miss Stokes was presented by her father and escorted by Mr. Anthony Neil Hopkins II of Darlington. Miss Stokes is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Howell Stokes, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ellis King, Jr., and Mrs. James Lide Perkins, all of Darlington. The following young men, sons and grandsons of members, were introduced:

Mr. Ernest Benjamin Buck III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Benjamin Buck II of Darlington, is a junior at Clemson University. Mr. Buck is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Benjamin Buck of Darlington, and Mrs. Dwight Harry Andrews and the late Mr. Andrews of Lamar.

Mr. William Edwin Dargan IV, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Edwin Dargan III of Darlington, is a sophomore at The Citadel. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William Edwin Dargan, Jr. of Darlington, Mr. and Mrs. William Alfred Gray of Florence, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Luther Segers, and Mr. and Mrs. William Jerome McCown of Santee.

Mr. John Edward Dennis is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Colgate Dennis IV of Darlington. He is a freshman at The University of South Carolina. Mr. Dennis is the grandson of Mr. Edward Colgate Dennis III and the late Ann Jaillette Dennis of Darlington, and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Stout McCall, Jr. of Society Hill.

Mr. Anthony Neil Hopkins II is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Neil Hopkins of Darlington. He is a freshman at The Citadel. Mr. Hopkins is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Huntley Pope of Darlington, and Mr. and Mrs. Leo James Hopkins, Jr. of Bishopville.

Mr. Kendall Chandler Howle, a sophomore at Midlands Technical College, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Adger Howle of Darlington. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Adger Howle of Darlington and the late Mr. and Mrs. Bob Anderson Shirley of Hartsville.

Mr. Lucas Carter Jeffords is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Carter Jeffords of Columbia. He is a freshman at The University of South Carolina. Mr. Jeffords is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Hampton Hubbard and the late Carolyn Bethea Hubbard, and Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Scott Jeffords, all of Darlington.

Mr. Keith Thomas Langley, Jr. is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Thomas Langley of Washington, D.C., and Ms. Townsend McRae Langley of Ravenel. He is a freshman at Wofford College and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Newton Ingram Howle, Jr. of Darlington, and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas William Langley of Bear, Delaware.

Mr. James Lawrie Lawson, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Hemphill Lawson, is a sophomore at Clemson University. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Laurie Coke Lawson and Mr. and Mrs. Terry Paul Anderson, all of Darlington.

Mr. Richard Hughes Milling, Jr. is a sophomore at The Citadel. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hughes Milling of Darlington. Mr. Milling is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Whitfield Milling of Darlington and Mr. Gerald Joseph Braun and the late Christie Lee Braun of Florence.

Mr. Nicholas Andrew Perry, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Andrew Perry, is a sophomore at Tri-County College. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Hal Avery Perry of Charleston and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Pollock McKelvy of Darlington.

Mr. Thomas Dorsey Standish is the son of Mrs. George Thomas Standish and the late Mr. Standish. He is a freshman at Francis Marion University and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Standish and Mrs. Victor Craig Stephens and the late Mr. Stephens, all of Darlington.

Mr. Laine Wilson Ward is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Wilson Ward. He is a freshman at Clemson University and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James Ronald Ward of Darlington and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Carlisle Williamson of Hartsville. Following the formal presentation of the debutantes and the Debutante Figure, members and their guests enjoyed a seated dinner and dancing to the music of The Finesse Band.
