Darlington County Sheriff’s Office deputies will soon be equipped with new high-quality, weather-resistant rain jackets, thanks to a $19,000 HERO Grant from Duke Energy. The gear is designed to improve deputy mobility, visibility and protection during severe weather, helping ensure reliable response times for traffic control and crash response in Darlington County, which sees roughly 47 to 49 inches of rain across more than 115 days each year.
