Sheriff Tony Chavis hires victim’s advocate
On March 29 Sheriff Tony Chavis hired June Gullett to be a victim’s advocate assigned to the Special Victims Unit. Gullett was recently the Community Liaison Officer for the Hartsville Police Department in the Community Outreach Department. She was the coordinator for the Hartsville Safe Communities Initiative with a focus on developing strong, trust based relationships with the community. She also worked for the Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, the Darlington County Detention Center and the Darlington County Magistrate’s Office.
The Special Victims Unit, led by Lt. Larry Stivender, is comprised of three investigators and two victim’s advocates. This unit was established by Sheriff Tony Chavis to fight domestic violence, crimes against children and crimes against the elderly.
