Shaw resigns as HHS Basketball Coach

Red Fox

Calvin Shaw resigned his position as Hartsville High School’s head boys’ varsity basketball coach, effective immediately, school officials announced today. Shaw, who led the Red Foxes basketball program for three years, compiled an overall record of 25-41 and a region record of 8-22. Prior to becoming head coach, Shaw was the top assistant to Aric Samuel for eight years, including two consecutive Class AAA State Championship seasons in 2011-12 and 2012-13.

Hartsville High School principal Dr. Charlie Burry said, “Calvin Shaw is a good basketball coach and an even finer man. He has led our program with integrity and passion, and his hard work is appreciated. We wish him the best, and I hope that he will continue to be involved in the game of basketball and working with young people in the Hartsville area.”

The search for a new coach will begin immediately.
