SCOR reps to attend September Darlington County Council Meeting

Representatives from the South Carolina Office of Resilience will be attending the Darlington County Council meeting on Monday, Sept. 12th, to discuss the Community Development Block Grant Mitigation Buyout Program. The meeting will take place at 6pm in the Elizabeth Boatwright Coker Performing Arts Center, 300 E. College Ave., in Hartsville.
The SC Office of Resilience exists to increase resilience to disasters and reduce or eliminate the long-term risk of loss of life, injury, damage to and loss of property, and suffering and hardship, by lessening the impact of future disasters.
The CDBG-Mitigation Buyout Program is a voluntary program designed to reduce or eliminate long-term risk of loss of life, injury, damage to and loss of property and suffering and hardship by purchasing property located in floodplain, avoiding risk of future flooding and providing a property owner the ability to relocate to a safer area.
The program is also intended to prevent repetitive loss and avoid extreme risk to human health and safety.
