Preparing for Taste of Darlington
The Taste of Darlington invites businesses, civic groups, and other organizations to participate in the city’s biggest social event of the year.
Use this opportunity to show off your skills in the kitchen with hors d’oeuvres, desserts and other mouth-watering goodies as well as promote your business or enterprise and your commitment to the community.
The 2020 Taste will be held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, April 23, in the garage area at Darlington Raceway as a fundraiser for the Darlington Downtown Revitalization Association (DDRA). Proceeds will go toward a variety of community projects, such as Incentive Improvement Grants and Bringing Downtown Alive! Free Concerts among others.
Enjoy a variety of foods from Darlington Country Club, Raceway Ford of Darlington, Crown Beverages, the Friends of the Darlington Library, Darlington County Sheriff Tony Chavis, the Housing Authority of Darlington, SPC Credit Union, Fatz Cafe, Joe’s Grill, Community Broadcasters, Sara’s Porch, Duke Energy, Darlington Rescue Square, Wilson Senior Care, Scott’s Construction, and the Darlington Pilot Club — to name a few.
Table hosts will decorate provided round tables to fit their business or theme. Each table will be responsible for providing eight dishes (homemade or semi-homemade), and cooks should expect to serve 150-200 bite-size pieces of each dish.
Grillers will bring in their grills or bring prepared food to serve on tables provided by DDRA.
Each griller may decorate the tables and will be provided a sign indicating their dish(es) and sponsor. Businesses may post their own banners at their tables as well.
