Pilot Club gears up for Sweet Potato Festival

Cooler weather, football games and the SC Sweet Potato Festival; if you are from Darlington, South Carolina you know that these three items are what the month of October is all about.

Downtown Darlington will come to life in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 14. The square will be marked off for more than 100 vendors from all over the state that will be selling an array of different crafts, food items, drinks, and much more. The festival runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. with the opening ceremony taking place at 10 a.m.

Admission is free. Included again this year is the classic car show, one of the festivals most popular attractions. There will also be many fun things for children. Local entertainment will be performing throughout the day. New this year will be two live auctions, one will be held at 12 p.m. and the other at 2 p.m. The auction will benefit both the Pilot Club and the Darlington County Humane Society.

The Darlington Pilot Club will be selling their sweet potato pies at their booth located near the Courthouse. You can try one of their delicious funnel cakes from their booth on Vendor Row. The S. C. Sweet Potato Festival is the main fundraiser for the Darlington Pilot Club’s many community projects that include college scholarships, working with the young people in our community and uplifting families.
