Perry Vance Whitt

DARLINGTON — Perry Vance Whitt, 91, of Darlington died on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, at his home. A celebration of life service was held Thursday, Feb. 18, at Mechanicsville Baptist Church with burial at Welsh Neck Baptist Church Cemetery in Society Hill. The family received friends Thursday, Feb. 18, at Mechanicsville Baptist Church and other times at the home at 1508 Cashua Ferry Road, Darlington. Perry was born in West Virginia. He was the son of the late Alva W. Whitt and Cora Rhinehart Whitt. Perry retired from Nucor Steel in Darlington. After retirement he enjoyed traveling to West Virginia and working on his family tree. He was a member of Mechanicsville Baptist Church and was baptized by Pastor Frankie Tanner. Surviving are his wife, Mary (Libby) Whitt of the home; his children, Cynthia G. Metcalf (Silven) of Bel Air, Md., Donald H. Whitt of Bel Air, and Perry V. Whitt II (Robin) of Gaston; stepchildren, Tammy E. Greer of Jonesville and Charles E. Fowler. Perry was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Bernice Whitt; three sisters and seven brothers. Memorials may be made to Mechanicsville Baptist Church Mission Fund or Building Fund, 2364 Cashua Ferry Road, Darlington, SC 29532.
