William “Bill” Henry Adams

DARLINGTON — William “Bill” Henry Adams, 86, of Darlington died Wednesday, July 3, 2019.

Graveside funeral services were Saturday, July 6, at Grove Hill Cemetery, 405 S. Warley St., Darlington, directed by Kistler Hardee Funeral Home of Darlington. The family received friends following the service at the cemetery.

Bill was born in Lancaster. He was the son of the late Henry Sowell Adams and Eva Christmas Adams.

Bill served his country in the Navy. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, St. David’s Masonic Lodge 72, Shriners Red Fez Club and Jolly Jeepsters.

Bill was an avid fisherman, golfer and enjoyed working in his yard.

Surviving are his wife, Martha Gibbs Adams; sister-in-law, Lillian Phillips and husband, Glenn; daughter, Eva O’Brian and husband, Scott; grandchildren, William Scott O’Brian II and wife, Rebecca and Ann Scott O’Brian; and his brothers, Bruce Christmas Adams, James Carl Adams, Quay Wyatt Adams and Michael Sowell Adams.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Sowell and Eva Christmas Adams; and by a sister, Lila Nan Adams.

Walton Edgar Stone

DARLINGTON — Walton Edgar Stone, 69, died Wednesday, July 3, 2019. A graveside service was held at Florence National Cemetery Tuesday, July 9, directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Born in Florence, he was the son of the late Warwick and Mildred Bair Stone.

Mr. Stone served in the Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

He then went on to drive trucks for a living.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Watkins Stone, stepdaughter, Shannon Brown, siblings: William Lamar (Judean) Stone Linda S. (David) Baker, Mary Stone and David Earl (Susie) Stone; and a special aunt, Louise B. Stone.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Warwick Stone.

Frank Elliott Byrd Jr.

DARLINGTON — Frank Elliott Byrd Jr., 88, of Darlington died Saturday, July 6, 2019.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 10, at 3 p.m. at Mechanicsville Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, directed by Kistler Hardee Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. July 10 at Mechanicsville Baptist Church and other times at the home of his daughter, Nancy Hartman, 528 Gilchrist Road, Darlington.

Frank was born in Dillon County.

He was the son of the late Frank Elliott and Nettie Vann Byrd.

Frank was a member of Mechanicsville Baptist Church.

He enjoyed fishing and working in his garden.

Surviving are his daughter, Nancy “Toose” Hartman of Darlington; his son, Melton Lee “Buddy” Byrd, and wife, Brenda of Charlotte; his grandchildren, Tony Lee O’Neal, Paula Byrd Black and Melton Lee Byrd Jr.; his great-grandchildren, Aniyah, Tiffany, Alex, Trey, Adrian, Akeem, Christopher and Justin; three great-great grandchildren; brother, Harvey Byrd; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jane Warren and Johnny McInville.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents listed above; and by a granddaughter, Lorna Lynn Byrd.
