Frances Godwin Ward

DARLINGTON – Frances Godwin Ward, 94, passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2019.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Darlington First Baptist Church with burial following at Grove Hill Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.

The family received friends Wednesday at the church.

Born Jan. 18, 1925, in Summerton, Frances was the daughter of the late C.B. Godwin and Anna Wilkie Godwin.

She worked for the Darlington County School District and retired from Florence-Darlington Technical College after 25 years as an executive secretary.

She enjoyed time spent with her family and friends.

Frances was a member of Darlington First Baptist Church.

Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Susan Ward of Darlington, Morris and Belle Ward of Mullins; daughters and sons-in-law, Annita and Candler Hunt of Madison, Ga., Susie and Rhame Guyton of Marion; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Mark Godwin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, C.M. Ward Jr.; sister, Billie Lou Bradham.

Ronnie Lee Porter

GARDEN CITY – Ronnie Lee Porter, 74, passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019.

Funeral services were Dec. 8 at the chapel at Belk Funeral Home with burial at Darlington Memory Gardens. The family received friends Sunday at the funeral home.

Born Dec. 17, 1944, Ronnie was the son of the late Donnie Lee Porter and Ila Mae Frye Hixon. He served his country in the Army as a paratrooper. He worked as a precision tool and die engineer and retired from Wolverine Brass.

Ronnie enjoyed bowling, golf and playing pool. He also enjoyed racing and had raced several times at the Darlington Drag Strip.

Surviving are his wife, Janice Bullard Porter; three children, Tammy (Roger) Carlton of Mechanicsville, Va., Rhonda Cromer of Raleigh, N.C., Ben Porter of Manning; grandchildren, Morgan, Meryl, Camden, Porter, Michael, Breanna and Jordanna; great-grandchild, Kinley; sister, Patricia (Carlos) Bailey of Camden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Porter.

Carolyn Frances Anderson

DARLINGTON – Carolyn Frances Anderson of Darlington passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019. A memorial service was held Tuesday, Dec. 10, in the chapel of Bethea Retirement Community, with visitation in the fellowship hall, directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Mrs. Anderson was born Feb. 5, 1936, in Latta. She was the daughter of the late Raymond Vernon Anderson and Lennie Anderson Chenowith. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Charles Anderson, and infant daughter, Angela Lynn Anderson.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her favorite hobbies were reading, playing cards/board games and spending time with her family and many friends.

Surviving are her husband, Billy Gene Anderson; four daughters, Suzanne (Ross) Lewis of Fort Mill, Dottie Sylvester of Rock Hill, Alva (John) Hoover of Florence, Tracy (Robin) Wood of Fleetwood, Pa.; grandchildren, Rocky Lewis, Seth Lewis, Zach (Kalee) Lewis, Billy (Angel) Sylvester, Pat (Kim) Sylvester, Jack Hoover, Mary Frances Hoover; great-grandchildren, Boston Lewis, Sara Beth Sylvester, Wes Sylvester, Josey Sylvester, Will Sylvester, Hudson Sylvester; step-grandchildren, Gregory and Julie Wood, and step-granddaughter, Lorali Wood.

A special heartfelt thank you to her many caregivers at Bethea Retirement Community, MRMC Renal floor along with Dr. Slingh, MRMC Hospice, and National Transport Service.

Christie Marie Moore

HARTSVILLE — Funeral services for Christie Marie Moore, 62, will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday at the funeral home.

Christie was born in Hartsville, a daughter of the late Henry Vance and Sadie Yarborough Moore. She was a resident of the Reagan House. She loved music and attending the Hartsville Church of God, where she was a member.

Surviving are one sister, Cindy (Jimmy Lee) Evans, Hartsville; one brother, Carl Vance Moore, Hartsville; one sister in law, Debbie Moore, Hartsville; special nieces and nephews, Vance Evans, Rock Hill, Sarah Evans, Hartsville, Carla Byrd, Hartsville, Steven Moore, Hartsville, Danielle Wallace, Mount Airy, N.C., Danny Moore II, Hartsville, Kim Medley, Darlington, and Ted Kelly, Tennessee; several great-nieces and nephews.

Christie was preceded in death by two brothers, Danny L. Moore and Leland Moore and one sister, Alice Kelly.
