Danny Edward Hill

DARLINGTON – Danny Edward Hill, 60, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019. Funeral services were 4 p.m. Friday, April 19, in the chapel at Belk Funeral Home with burial at Magnolia Cemetery in Darlington.

The family received friends Friday at the funeral home.

Born Oct. 13, 1958, Danny was the son of Patricia Ann Cooper Hill and the late Bobby Hill.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and he attended Darlington Church of God of Prophecy.

In addition to his mother, Patricia Ann Hill, Danny is survived by his wife, Sandra Faye Weatherford Hill; sons, Justin Hill and Edward (Christy Williamson) Hill; grandchildren, Dylan Hill and Charlie Hill; brother, Gene Hill; and sister, Barbara Ann (Jimmy) Weatherford.

In addition to his father, Bobby Hill, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Ray Hill.

Joyce Knight

DARLINGTON – Joyce Ellen Cato Knight, 97, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019. Funeral services were Monday, April 22, at Darlington First Baptist Church with burial at Grove Hill Cemetery.

The family received friends Sunday at Belk Funeral Home, and other times at 205 Belvin St., Darlington.

Born Oct. 9, 1921, Joyce was the daughter of the late Robert Cato and Allie Hicks Cato.

She retired from Dixie Cup after 30 years. Joyce was a member of Darlington First Baptist Church for over 60 years.

Before her move to Bethea Baptist Home, she was active in the Women’s Circle at the church and was involved in mission work.

She loved her children and grandchildren, and was known by many as “Granny.” Her laughter will be missed by many.

Surviving are her children, Johnny (Sherry) Knight, Bobby (Vicki Irick) Knight, Bill (Pat) Knight, all of Darlington, David (Janice Sisco) Knight of Florence, and Linda (Arthur) Flowers of Darlington; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Margaret Watts of Miami Springs, Fla.; and a brother, Pete (Betty Ruth) Cato of Pageland.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Johnnie Knight; three sisters and two brothers.

Dianne Watford Amerson

LAMAR – Dianne Watford Amerson, 69, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, at Christian Pathway Church with burial at Lamar Memorial Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.

The family received friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Belk Funeral Home in Lamar.

Born Aug. 22, 1949, Dianne was the daughter of the late Howard Melvin Watford and Margaret Leoa Alexander Watford. She was married to the love of her life, Kenneth “Kenny” Amerson, who died in 2016.

Dianne worked at G.E. for over 20 years and then kept over 40 children at Dianne’s Day Care. She had a passion for working in her yard, baking and being involved in her church.

She will be remembered for her smile, and for saying “I love you” at the end of every conversation.

She was a member of Christian Pathway Church in Lamar.

Surviving are her daughters, Denise (Ray) Smith and Julie (Ryan) Parnell; grandchildren, Dillon Parnell, Bryce Parnell, Tyler Smith and Lauren Smith; great-grandson, Dawson Parnell; niece, Brenda (Rip) Parnell; brothers, Fred (Carolyn) Watford and Melvin (Lynn) Watford; special sister-in-law, Nellie Amerson; and special friend, Mickey Welch.

She leaves behind a host of family and friends who she loved dearly.

In addition to her husband, Kenneth Lavan Amerson, she was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Watford.
