Nonprofits invited to take part in Giving Tuesday Pee Dee
Eastern Carolina Community Foundation (ECCF) will coordinate a collaborative giving campaign called #GivingTuesdayPeeDee for regional nonprofits on November 28, 2017. Using #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration, as its inspiration, #GivingTuesdayPeeDee will promote area nonprofits to inspire philanthropy in the Pee Dee on this day.
Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become an international movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy.
#GivingTuesday connects diverse groups of individuals, communities and organizations around the world for one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage giving all together on one day. Using the potential of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in individual communities; #GivingTuesday provides a platform for nonprofits to encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to address local challenges. It also brings together the collective power of a unique blend of partners— nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses and corporations, as well as families and individuals—to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness.

Successful applicants will be those that are familiar using social media platforms and have the capability of taking online donations. The giving day will culminate in an open house at the Florence Civic Center to showcase nonprofit organizations from throughout the Pee Dee. The deadline for applications is Friday, September 29.
