Motorcyclist captured, arrested by sheriff’s deputies
Fridy night a motorcyclist traveled at a high rate of speed through the downtown area of Darlington while a concert was being held and traffic was being re-routed. The motorcyclist maneuvered between two City of Darlington Police Officers, almost striking them. Officers notified the Sheriff’s Office.
Darlington County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies were able to locate the motorcyclist on N. Governor Williams Hwy., near the intersection of Mineral Springs Rd., and briefly pursued the driver before the driver stopped.
Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested Steven Richardson of Charlotte. Richardson was found in possession of illegal drugs, had a suspended driver’s license, and the vehicle tag did not belong to the vehicle he was operating. Richardson will face multiple charges including failure to stop for a blue light. Other charges may result.
