Miss Darlington and Miss Darlington Teen staying busy after being crowned in May

The new Miss Darlington Sarah Floyd and Miss Darlington Teen Saviah Miller have been busy representing the city of Darlington since being crowned on May 21.

Both young ladies will compete for the titles of Miss South Carolina and Miss South Carolina Teen 2018 next June in Columbia. Floyd, a Hartsville native, and rising senior vocal performance major at Coker College, is currently on a seven week adventure to France, that will allow her to study classical music and end with several performances in a opera production.

Before her trip to France, Floyd was presented the key to the city of Darlington, helped hand out trophies to the winners of the Cruise-In car show at Joe’s Grill in Darlington, performed at a fundraiser at Coker College, attended the 2017 Miss South Carolina pageant in Columbia, where she served as an observer, attended the Freedom Fest at Darlington Raceway to celebrate the 4th of July and attended and sang “God Bless America” at the Florence Redwolves baseball game as part of the Spirit of Florence Celebration.

Miller, a Florence native, has been busy preparing for an upcoming role in the “Music Man Jr. at the Florence Little Theater, since winning the crown. She also received the key to the city of Darlington, helped hand out trophies at the Cruise-In car show at Joe’s Grill, performed at a fundraiser at Coker College, attended the Miss South Carolina Teen pageant in Columbia, where she served as an observer, was a part of the “Cooling Project” sponsored by the Darlington Sheriff’s Department, and will attend the “Lock-In” at the Darlington Library and perform.

Both girls will also ride in the Bojangles Southern 500 parade and take part in several of the race activities surrounding the event on Labor Day weekend at Darlington Raceway.
