Miss Darlington and Miss Darlington Teen Scholarship pageants return
For the past five years the city of Darlington has not crowned a Miss Darlington or Miss Darlington Teen but the traditional event will make a magical return on May 21, 2017 at the St. John’s Elementary School Auditorium, located in heart of our wonderful city.
A group of individuals known as the Miss Darlington Scholarship Pageant Board and Committee will bring back a long standing tradition that will crown two winners that will advance to compete at the 2018 Miss South Carolina and Miss South Carolina Teen Scholarship pageants in Columbia. The winners will be crowned in May, attend the 2017 Miss South Carolina and Miss South Carolina Teen pageant as observers, reign over the city of Darlington for a year, crown the new Miss Darlington in May 2018, then compete for Miss South Carolina and Miss South Carolina Teen.
The winner of Miss Darlington will walk away with a college scholarship and an array of prizes from local and state sponsors. Miss Darlington Teen will win a savings bond along with an array of prizes from local and state sponsors.
In order to compete for Miss Darlington, a contestant must be between the ages of 17 (senior in high school) and no older than 24 by December 31 of 2018 and have lived, attended college or worked in the state of South Carolina for six months and have never had a child. In order to compete for Miss Darlington Teen a contestant must be between the ages of 13-17 (rising junior in high school in 2018) and attend school and have lived in South Carolina for six months and never had a child.
A contestant interest meeting will be held in February 2017, and a date will be announced by the beginning of the year.
