Staff and residents at Medford Nursing Center of Darlington welcomed representatives of South Carolina DHEC (Department of Health and Environmental Control) last week to celebrate Medford’s selection as the 2016 “Spirit of Caring” poster contest First Prize winner. Medford won top honors for their poster, entitled “Lifting Spirits…Touching Lives” which features images of several Medford residents with staff and caregivers. The poster will be seen statewide on the cover of a manual featuring best practices in nursing care facilities.
“A lot of the pictures exemplify how much the residents and staff enjoy being here. It’s a family for everyone,” said Medford’s executive director Tyler Lofe.

“This was a collaboration of all the efforts of employees, family members – everybody had a little input on it,” said Medford’s activities director Sherri Miles.

For 19 years, the Spirit of Caring Committee has served as collaboration between DHEC and nursing homes statewide, aimed at celebrating successful programs and services employed at residential care facilities.
