Margaret McCoy Smith

SUMTER– Margaret McCoy Smith, 95, passed away Monday, April 13, 2020. A private graveside service was held Thursday, April 16, in Lamar, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Born July 16, 1924, Margaret was the daughter of the late Maxie McCoy and Janie Watford McCoy. She worked for Campbell’s Soup, and she loved spending time with her family. She was also an avid flower gardener who took pride in her yard. Margaret was a member of First Church of God in Sumter.
Surviving are her sons, Willie James (Wanda) Smith and Calvin L. (Linda) Smith, all of Sumter; grandchildren, Yuvon (Calvin) Stanfield of Tennessee, Tim (Jeff) Smith of Key West, Fla., Charlie Smith, Candice Smith (Jimmy) Byrd, Willie Smith Jr., all of Sumter, Hayley (Lee) Braswell of Gaston; three great-grandchildren, Forrest Giffin, Lakin Giffin and Miranda Stanfield, two great-great-grandchildren, Maverick and Easton, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Smith; sons, Maxie Ray Smith and Troy Smith.
