Man tries to kidnap girl in Lamar

A man in a white panel van tried to kidnap a girl in Lamar last Thursday, officials said.
The incident took place on the afternoon of Oct. 8 at Duke Street and Pine Street, according to the Lamar Police Department.
A white man driving a panel van pulled up to a girl walking to meet her sisters at a bus stop, police said. He asked her if she wanted candy.
The man got out of the van and tried to grab the girl’s wrist, officials said, but she got away “before he got a good grip on her arm.”
Police describe the suspect as a “white male who is bald with no facial hair.” Police did not estimate his age. His van was “a white panel van with no windows.”
Officials ask that you call 911 if you have any information about this case.
