Man charged in slaying near Lamar

A man has been charged with murder and unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted violent felon in connection with a fatal shooting near Lamar recently, jail records show. Devon Sharnell McCoy, no address listed, was booked into the county jail Feb. 22. He has been denied bond, jail records show. McCoy is accused in the death of Corey Williams, who was killed on Bay Branch Road near Lamar. The Darlington County Sheriff’s Department investigated the case.
