Local players picked for All-State honors

Dozens of players from the Pee Dee were chosen when the S.C. Football Coaches Association recently announced picks for All-State teams. Those honored from Darlington County included: — Lamar High School, with four selections in 1A: Wide receiver Derrick Higgins, offensive lineman Anthony Walton and defensive backs Patrick Anderson and A.J. McFadden. Lamar’s Gabriel McCallister was an honorable mention. — Hartsville High School, with two selections in 4A: D.P. Pendergrass, chosen as a running back, and linebacker Bailey Carraway. — Darlington High School, with Daniel Perkins receiving an honorable mention.
