Reader requests help for MADD Walk in March
MADD SC will conduct their second walk this year on March 22nd at Saluda Shoals. I will represent MADD Darlington County again this year. I was so encouraged by the support I received last year, which came in large part from local law enforcement, family, friends and victims.
This year, I am reaching out to the public, to all our surrounding counties, to businesses concerned with highway safety, to churches, civic groups, schools, in essence- everyone who is concerned about saving lives on our roadways. Because we all re affected by drunk driving.
It is sad for South Carolina; as we just received the ranking numbers from National Highway Safety Traffic Safety Association and we rank #1 in the nation for highway deaths due to drunk driving. This is NOT a number we want to be recognized for. This is an ongoing battle for ALL of us. As of January 21st, we have had 40 people killed on South Carolina’s highways; that’s two people a day. Nineteen of those people were not wearing seatbelts. South Carolina, we have got to do better!
I am asking for your support s I walk on March 22 to represent the Pee Dee Region and honor the victims I have served. You can go to the website: www.walklikemadd.org/columbia and once there, look for the MADD Darlington County and make a donation. Just remember the dollar you give goes to save lives and there is nothing more important than saving lives! Or YOU can form a team; just remember, this is not my battle, this is OUR battle –together we can make a difference. Thank you in adance for your support.
Working for a safer tomorrow,
