Friday, November 26th, the Lamar Silver Foxes hosted Southside Christian School for another round of the class A state playoffs. It was a tough night for Darlington County’s last remaining varsity football team in the state championship playoffs. Just a few minutes after kickoff, Southside ran their first touchdown on the Silver Foxes. When the Silver Foxes had position over the ball, they couldn’t gain any yards over Southside’s tough defense. By the end of the first quarter, Southside Christian had a daunting 28-0 lead over the Silver Foxes. In the second quarter, the Silver foxes were able to slowdown the Southside offense but, like the first quarter, couldn’t stop them from landing two more touchdowns. By halftime, Southside led 42 – 0 over Lamar. In the second half, Southside’s offense slowed down to the Silver foxes defense. The visitors were only able to place one touchdown on the Silver Foxes in the third quarter. Finally, after a cold and brutal 3 quarters, the Silver Foxes found a break in the Southside defense and were able to place one touchdown in the final quarter. Unfortunately, Friday night’s loss will remove the Lamar Silver Foxes from the 2021 state playoffs. Lets congratulate our silver Foxes for a wonderful football season! Go Silver Foxes!
